In the course of the Russian Arbitration Day — 2015 experts will discuss current tendencies and challenges in the field of international arbitration. Details of the conference program became known today

The preliminary program of the Russian Arbitration Day — 2015 conference, aimed at development of arbitration on the post-Soviet territory, was published today. You may find the list of speakers and the reports to be given this year at the conference website. This arbitration forum will take place in Moscow on 21 May in the Congress center of  the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

The guests of the conference will hear opinions not only of well-known Russian arbitration experts but those of esteemed foreign specialists as well. E.g., Jacomijn van Haersolte-van Hof, the General Director of the London Court of International Arbitration, will report on the new rules of that institution. Maxi Scherer, Doctor of Laws, special counsellor of “Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP” (London), will speak about tendencies in favor of transparency in the investment and commercial arbitration. And the topic of report of Arthur Rovine, Professor of Fordham University (New York, USA), is the regulatory powers of a host state and protection of an investor.

Less significant topics, many of which have never been discussed, will also be considered. “Quite often not all problems of the international commercial arbitration are given sufficient attention by the specialists. We try to identify them and take a closer look,” explains one of the conference moderators, Anton Asoskov (Doctor of Laws of the Lomonosov Moscow State University). “It was our decision to refrain from discussing purely domestic issues, of which most of us are well aware, instead focusing on the international experience despite being heavily criticized for it,” adds the moderator of the first session, Alexander Muranov (managing partner of “Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners”, candidate of sciences, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia).

The conference will cover three principal areas: modern tendencies and challenges in the field of international arbitration, investment arbitration, procedural issues in arbitration. The speakers will deal with such pressing issues as selection of the forum in light of the sanctions, consideration of disputes in Asian arbitration centers, international status of mediation agreements in the form of arbitral awards and many others. All reports to be presented at the conference have been selected in terms of their relevance, unique nature and depth of research.

Particular features of the conference: strict selection of reports, live broadcasting in the Internet, the collected articles with the speakers’ reports and other materials are published before the conference, no fee for participation. “We would like to bring knowledge to people and that is why this conference is open for everybody. Our aim is to develop arbitration on the post-Soviet territory. We would like to see more specialists on the Russian and the CIS markets who can ensure efficient protection of their domestic legal entities’ interests in international arbitration proceedings”, says Roman Khodykin, the partner of the London branch of “Berwin Leighton Paisner”.

In 2015 the Russian Arbitration Day will take place already for the third time. Last year over 250 guests from various Russian cities as well as Great Britain, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, Lithuania and other countries attended the conference. The conference was noted for its practical significance by many experts.

The Russian Arbitration Day is held with support of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation .

The participation in the conference is free for everyone.
